The following segments/ modules appear regularly.
News Stories
Covers five to seven of the week's top stories, including thorough coverage
of one lead story.
Clues in the News
Presents three clues (scrambled letters, fill-in-the-blank statements,
latitudes and longitudes, key words) to upcoming events. Viewers are
asked to figure out what the events are and why they are newsworthy.
Answers are provided in the next week's program.
Feature Story
This segment is shot on location and provides a short look at some topic
of general interest.
Pop Quizzes
Ask quick multiple choice questions based on a news story presented
earlier in the program, to reinforce key words, ideas and facts.
Issue
Presents a topic of current public interest from divergent points of
view. Encourages students to think about the issue and to respond by
mail. In the past, questions have included the following: What suggestions
do you have to keep election results in one part of the country from
affecting voting in another? Should there be capital punishment? If
you were president, what would you cut from the federal budget to balance
it?
Mail Bag
Reports on student responses to the Issue of two weeks earlier. A portion
of several representative letters are read and displayed on the air.
