About ATW
Assignment: The World has provided current events to fourth through eighth graders for 52 years. The weekly 15-minute news program is the nation's longest-running instructional television program. It is carried on public television stations across the United States. Assignment: The World (ATW) is a fast-paced, interactive program that covers the top news stories of the week from around the world. ATW helps its viewers to understand the world around them and how events in other countries can and do affect their lives.
In each episode, ATW provides viewers with opportunities to interact with the current events and content presented. Viewers can actively participate in comprehension questions, answer questions about news stories, and debate important current event issues. Pop Quizzes, Clues in the News and Issue Questions offer interactive opportunities for student to test their understanding, improve their research abilities and hone their writing skills all while viewing the series.
